Volvo XC40 Recharge EV unveiled in India

Here is great news coming up for luxury car buyers who are keen to buy an EV this time, here is the time! Volvo has revealed its electric SUV Volvo XC40 Recharge EV plans in India. Its booking will commence in June and the deliveries will start in October this year. It is a luxury premium electric car and will be priced around Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Volvo XC40 Recharge EV is entering into the luxury segment in India and is basically for luxury car buyers who are looking for battery operated vehicles. This SUV is officially showcased in Delhi. It has recently revealed an SUV coupe version of an all-electric SUV, the C40 Recharge in 2022.

As per European test cycles, it provides a claimed range of over 400 kilometres and a certified range of around 335 kilometres. It is equipped with a large 78 kWh battery pack which gives a top speed of 180 kmph and can accelerate 100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds.

The company plans to have 80 percent of sales in the country and globally 50 percent. It wants to increase its sales in India with electric and petrol cars. It is promising one new EV every year. It has also recently revealed its SUV coupe version of all-electric SUV, C40 Recharge in 2022.

Earlier the Swedish auto manufacturer announced its plans to launch its XC40 electric SUV in India in 2020. In 2018 it had announced that it will launch 4 new electrified vehicles in the next 3 years in India. The company’s first model Volvo XC90 was launched in 2019 and it has started assembling the XC90 plug-in hybrid SUV in India at its facility. We can also expect that the XC40 Recharge will also assemble in India.

At current XC40 is sold in India with a petrol engine and is built on a compact modular architecture platform (CMA). The company discontinued its diesel version in 2020.
