Electric vehicles market is been growing in every part of the world either slow or fast depending on the economic status of the particular region. But we have hope that the world will turn to a greener environment. If we look at India’s greener goals that are set to achieve 30% of electric vehicles by 2030. Let us now look into some top 10 electric trucks all over the world. 

According to data from the Society Of Manufacturers Of Electric Vehicles, in the financial year ending March 2020, the overall sales of EVs in India increased by 20%. The electric cars sales recorded in FY19 was 3,600 whereas in FY20 was 3,400 that means a change of 5%.

Likewise, the electric two-wheelers in FY19 recorded 126,000 and in FY20 was 152,000 that means 21% change. Whereas the buses recorded 400 in FY19 and in FY20 600 a change of 50%. In this article, we will be talking about electric trucks all over the world.

Ultra T.7 electric truck 

Let us first talk about India’s pioneer and leading automobile company Tata Motors’s electric truck. Tata Motors has unveiled its first-ever commercial electric truck, Ultra T.7 Electric. It is the latest product from the company which comes under the ILCV (intermediate and light commercial vehicle) segment under the world-class vehicle range of Ultra Platform. It is the first commercial electric truck from the company.

Its specifications include it’s motor generating 245 KW as peak power which generates 2800 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a powerful 62.5 kWh battery pack which can be charged with an off-board DC fast charging, which takes approximately 2 hours to charge it to the fullest. With a full charge, it gives a range of more than 100 km and gives a top speed of 80 kmph. Its Gradeability is 26 per cent.

It features includes faster turnaround time, higher payload capacity, easier manoeuvrability and sharper turning circle radius of 6.95 metres. It has tilt and telescopic integrated hydraulic power steering, air drum brakes, parabolic springs with antiroll bar, semi-elliptical leaf springs at the rear, 235/75 R17.5 tubeless radial tyres and allows wheels.

Renault 20 D Wide Z.E

Renault Trucks has signed a contract with the Carlsberg Group to deliver 20 D Wide Z.E. It is the first all-electric 26-ton. It can be equipped with a 200-265 kWh battery pack and offer some 180 km (112 miles) of the real-world range. It weighs 28 tonnes and carries a wheelbase of 3,900 mm and has two electric motors with a total rating of 370 kW (260 kW continuous output) which produces a torque of 850 Nm.

Tesla unveiled its first electric pickup truck ‘Cybertruck’ in 2019 in California. The truck will come in three versions with 250 miles, 300 miles, and 500 miles of range, respectively. It starts at a price for $69,900 (500 miles).

Its specifications include, provides a top speed of 130 mph and a range of 250,300, 500 miles. It is having a battery capacity of 87.75 kWh and produces a torque of 1,356 NM. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.9 secs. Its payload capacity is 1588 kg and a towing capacity of 6350 kg.

Rhino 5536 electric truck in India

Rhino 5536 electric truck in India is from Infraprime Logistics Technologies (IPLT). It is India’s First heavy-duty electric truck that comes with an indigenously designed transmission-based electric drivetrain. The gross vehicle weight is 55 tonnes and power 360 bhp of the vehicle.

It provides a top speed of 90 km/h and gives a range of 250 km. It is equipped with a powerful 265 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery pack that weighs more than 2 metric tonnes. The battery can be charged with a 160 kWh fast charger and can be charged 0 to 100% in just 90 minutes.

Renault D WIDE Z.E

Renault has launched its next generation of electric trucks in 2019. These electric trucks are used for Logistics and garbage collection with a capacity of 3.5 to 26 tonnes. D WIDE Z.E is the Biggest among these electric trucks. The gross vehicle weight of D wide Z.E is 26 tonnes and has a payload capacity of up to 11 tonnes. It works with a 370kW electric motor with a maximum torque of 850 Nm. The Wide Z.E can run with a top speed of 100km/h which can provide 200 km of range with its 200kWh lithium-ion battery.

Fuso eCanter

One more electric truck from a German auto giant a medium and heavy trucks and buses manufacturer Daimler is planning to launch an electric truck in the Indian market.

The company under the BharatBenz and Fuso brands is scheduled to have an event next year titled ‘Future Mobility’. A Daimler India Commercial Vehicle (DICV) official said the company would reveal its plans for the electric truck at the event. The light-duty Fuso eCanter is the first all-electric truck from Daimler. The eCanter has a driving range of 100 km and can carry a payload of up to 3,200 kg.

Rivian R1T Pickup truck

The carmaker in its latest activity has announced a $2.65-billion investment round led by T. Rowe Price. It has raised $8 billion since its start. While talking about Rivian R1T Pickup truck its a 5-passenger pickup truck powered by an impressive all-electric powertrain. Each motor has a 147 kW power capacity at the wheel and total power output different levels from 300 kW to 562 kW (input to gearbox).

It has a different choice of battery packs such as 105 kWh, 135 kWh, and 180 kWh and gives a range of 230+ miles, 300+ miles, and 400+ miles. Its top speed is 125 mph. Its payload capacity is 800kg and towing capacity is 5000kg. It is priced at $70,000.

Xcient Fuell Cell truck

Xcient Fuell Cell truck is from Hyundai that is powered by a 190 kW hydrogen fuel cell system with dual 95 kW fuel cell stacks. Seven large hydrogen tanks offer a storage capacity of 32.09 kg of hydrogen. With a full tank of hydrogen, the driving range of Xcient fuel cell is 400 KM. It refuels in 8 to 20 minutes. 

While we look at its technical specifications, it provides a top speed of 85km/h and a 350 kW Motor by Siemens. It has a 661 V / 73.2 kWh and a gross combination weight is 36,000 as pull-cargo. Gross vehicle weight is 19,000 as a rigid truck and empty vehicle weight 9,795. 

Tata ACE EV

The Tata ACE EV was developed under Tata Motors European technical centre (TMETC). The payload capacity of TATA ACE EV is 500 kg. The vehicle is capable of a maximum speed of 40kmph and a range of 48 km. The electric vehicle works with a 25kw pm dc motor. It provides a top speed of 40 km/h
Range of 50 km

Its weight is nearby 1,600 kgs. It has disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear are good enough to control the vehicle.

Endurance electric pickup truck

Endurance electric pickup truck is from American automobile manufacturer has unveiled its electric pickup truck. They are currently building production capacity at the factory in Ohio to start production in September 2021. The Lordstown Endurance starts at $52,500 with a range of “over 250 miles. The company has used four in-wheel hub motors to power it.

Its base price is $52,500 and comes with an ADAS-LDW, AEB, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and OTA (Over the Air Updates) software. It provides a range+ miles and top speed of 80 mph. Its towing capacity is 7,500 lbs with a seating capacity of 5.
