The Volvo EX30 electric SUV leaked once again

A leaked Volvo EX30 small electric crossover image has emerged on Volvo’s website

An unintentional leak of the Volvo EX30 was discovered on Volvo’s configurator website. Early Friday, the Volvo website briefly displayed a picture of the EX30. The picture was quickly removed, however. Even so, we had the chance to take a look at some crossover pictures as well.

A number of design elements of the EX30 are shared with the flagship EX90, which is no surprise. It is, of course, much smaller in comparison to the original. To give you a sense of how small it is, it’s even smaller than the XC40.

Several months ago, patent images leaked in China have already given us a glimpse of what the EX30 will look like when it is released. In an apparent coincidence with the patent image below, the leak appears to match the configurator leak.

There are two types of batteries available for the EX30. This battery is available in two sizes, a 51kWh battery as the base option and a 69kWh battery as an upgrade option. Compared to the former, the latter has a range of 498 miles. In comparison with the XC40/C40 Recharge, the EX30 has been designed with the goal of achieving a 25% reduction in carbon footprint as compared to the current XC40/C40 Recharge. During the process of manufacturing, recycled materials are used as a primary method for accomplishing this.

If the EX30 comes with LIDAR as a standard feature, then that would be great to see. In order to pioneer autonomous driving, the EX90 gets equipped with five radars, eight cameras, and sixteen ultrasonic sensors. There is a strong possibility that this technology could be omitted from the base version of the EX30, simply because of its cost.

It is expected that Volvo will reveal the full lineup of EX30 vehicles on June 7th. There are plans for the compact crossover to make its way to the US by 2024. It should be noted that there are several competitors whose starting prices are expected to be around $45,000, including the Tesla Model Y, the VW ID.4, and the Kia EV6.
