Tata Motors announced Tata Nexon EV India launch date. They might launch India’s most affordable electric sports utility vehicle in India on December 16. Nexon Electric is the first model to debut with carmaker’s Ziptron powertrain.

The Nexon EV is expected to debut at Auto Expo 2020. The electric vehicle is being extensively tested by the company at various terrains and altitudes. It could be the most affordable electric SUV in India so far. Besides an electric drivetrain, Tata Nexon EV might also debut with a new Harrier-esque face.

Tata motors has been testing the facelifted Nexon EV model across India. The Ziptron powertrain will be the highlight of the car, which uses a permanent magnet AC motor. Tata Nexon EV is powered by an IP67 rated water and dust resistant battery pack. They claim that the powertrain has been tested on road for more than one million km. The final specification of the drivetrain is not revealed yet. But it is expected that it offers a real-world range of around 300km.

Prior to the launch, Tata Motors is now focusing on erecting the charging infrastructure for the electric vehicle. Currently the company has 85 chargers across 13 cities. It is planning to expand the charging network and to include 300 chargers across 5 metro cities, Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

The Indian Automaker is working on the Nexon facelift which features a Harrier-esque grille and sleek projector headlamps. It is also expected that the Nexon Electric may have instrument cluster from the Harrier and might use steering wheel on the Altroz.
