Polestar 2 electric car with new digital key & updated app launch
Polestar an independent Swedish premium electric performance car brand founded by Volvo Cars and Geely Holding has launched a new digital key & updated app for its Polestar 2 electric car. It comes with a new digital key technology (beta) that allows the users to stay connected with their smartphones as an alternative to the old key fob.
The company CEO, in a press release, said Thomas Ingenlath said that “The Polestar Digital Key is one of our most anticipated features because the convenience of not having to carry a physical key is invaluable.“Being able to use your phone as the key makes sense especially in an age where our phones take care of most of our daily needs already, and it’s the one device you always carry with you.”

The sensors attached to the vehicles helps to detect the paired device. The arm’s length and sensors allow the doors, tailgate or the charging lock button to open or activate with more accuracy and security. The new update in the car includes the OTA update, Polestar app with vehicle functionality (beta). It comes with battery status, remote climate start and remote locking, etc and some more to be added over time.
He added “The updated Polestar app now brings extra convenience to owning a Polestar 2. The simple act of being able to pre-heat or cool the cabin remotely is something we know adds huge value to the everyday experience and we know Polestar 2 owners have been eagerly awaiting this functionality. Of course, more functionality will be released in the future and we see great potential for the continued digital experience in Polestar 2.”
