Let’s slay the traffic with the savvy MG Comet EV

MG Comet EV launches at 7.98 lakh; India’s most affordable electric car

MG Motor has launched the new Comet EV in India today with a boxy and still unique design that makes it stand out from the rest. The pricing for the new Comet has finally been announced by MG Motor India. This car is currently available at an introductory price of Rs 7.98 lakh at the time of its launch. A second electric car is being offered by MG Motor India, and as a result, the most affordable electric car on the Indian market can be found here.

With a starting price of Rs 7.98 lakh, the MG Comet EV is set to become India’s most affordable and cost-effective electric vehicle on the market.

The newly introduced MG Comet EV comes in two variants. However, MG Motor India has yet to reveal the full vehicle price. The starting price of the introductory model is Rs 7.98 lakhs. It has been announced that the pre-orders will be available starting on May 15, 2023, as promised.

With its whimsical and striking design, the MG Comet EV stands out from the crowd. It features a four-wheeler-inspired body design and includes premium features such as split headlights, full-width LED elements, sleek alloy wheels, tall C-pillars and two-tone paintwork. Electric cars are two-door vehicles that accommodate four passengers. The MG Comet measures 2,974mm long, 1,505mm wide, 1,631mm high and has a 2,010mm wheelbase.

A relatively spacious cabin with two 10.25-inch screens greets the rider upon entering the Comet. The two spoke steering wheel is a pleasant touch, and it includes controls that are reminiscent of an Apple iPod to make driving more enjoyable. Bluetooth connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, push-button start, and digital keys are all available. Power windows, a gray interior design and a leather steering wheel are some of the features available.

The Comet is the smallest four-wheeler sold in India, but it doesn’t compromise on space efficiency. Based on electric skateboard architecture, it has a long 2,010mm wheelbase and a box shape. The exterior design features a two-tone finish on the front fascia, a tall, blunt nose and wraparound stripes under the windshield with LED lighting elements that extend to the door mirrors.

Now let’s look at the MG Comet EV range and details

A 17.3 kWh battery pack is included with the MG Comet EV. It takes about 7 hours to charge from 0% to 100% from a typical household outlet. MG provides this car with a 3.3 kW charger. MG Comet EV does not have quick charging. Official figures show the range is 230 km. The electric motor produces 42 hp and 110 Nm of torque.

The newly introduced MG Comet EV also features connected features such as live support and voice recognition. MG Motors offers several customization options for customers to choose from at the dealership. Aftermarket accessories available for the Comet EV include various aftermarket decals and car accessories.

There is no doubt that MG is targeting customers who drive less than 100 kilometers a day and who do not make long outstation journeys in their car with the intended use of the car.

As of now, there is no direct competitor in the Indian market for the Comet EV, however, the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3 are close competitors in the Indian market.
