Mahindra MESMA-based SsangYong Korando e-motion EV unveiled 

Ssangyong has unveiled its first battery-electric vehicle Korando e-Motion SUV.

The SsangYong Korando e-motion is built on the Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA) platform. The production of the new mid-size electric SUV has already started and the deliveries in the UK and other European markets are expected to commence later this year. The electric SUV is similar to the brand’s regular ICE engine powered Korando SUV. It has got an updated front fascial with a restyled bumper, repositioned fog lamps and a closed-off grille. It also features new aerodynamically designed alloy wheels with blue highlights all around.

While we look for its technical specifications, it is equipped with a 61.5kWh battery supplied by LG Chem which can provide a range of 420km. There are not many details revealed but the Korando e-motion EV has a 190hp electric motor and can give a top speed of 152kph.

Korando e-motion gives a resemblance to the Mahindra eXUV300 that was shown at the Auto Expo 2020 in India. The Ssangyong also took an opportunity to announce its next electric SUV for the international market. The second electric SUV from the brand Codenamed ‘J100’ will be launched in 2022.

The XUV300 electric will be based on the MESMA (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture) platform. Mahindra XUV300 electric appearance is the same as XUV300 but its technical terms will be different from the conventional one.

Mahindra XUV300 electric is expected to come in two variants one with a lower range and one with a higher range. The lower variant may provide a range of around 350km and a higher range might offer around 400 km. It is likely to get around 130hp electric motor and a 40kWh battery pack.
