Lotus’ Eletre electric performance SUV debuts in India

Eletre, Lotus’ electric performance SUV, arrives in India for 2.55 crores

With the launch of the Eletre electric performance SUV, iconic British carmaker Lotus has officially entered the Indian market. There are various price brackets for the new Lotus Eletre, starting at 2.55 crores (all prices are ex-showroom), which puts it in the same price range as the Maserati Levante, Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Mercedes-Maybach GLS, among others. The Eletre, on the other hand, uses an all-electric drivetrain, unlike its turbocharged rivals.

The Lotus brand is being distributed and retailed in the country by Exclusive Motors. In addition to selling Bentley cars in India, the Delhi-based company also distributes them. A dealership will be opened by the well-known automobile manufacturer in Delhi in early 2024, followed by a number of additional outlets in the following years. Lotus is not the only British automotive royalty that has established a presence in India, as McLaren, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Jaguar Land Rover are also prominent brands.

As part of Lotus’ Electric Premium Architecture, the Lotus Eletre is built on the brand’s latest technology platform. Future cars will be able to have a variety of body styles thanks to the modular bespoke platform. The Eletre is available with two powertrain options, the standard, and the Eletre S, both powered by a dual-motor system that produces 595 horsepower and 710 Newton meters and can travel 600 kilometers on a single charge. A top-of-the-line Lotus Eletre R produces 893 horsepower and 985 pound-feet of torque from its dual electric motors. It is equipped with a two-speed transmission and has a maximum range of 490 kilometers. As a result, both the Eletre and Eletre S are able to sprint from zero to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds, while the Eletre R can complete the same task in as little as 2.95 seconds. A top speed of 265 kmph is the maximum speed that is allowed for this vehicle.
