The company asserts it poses a threat to petrol scooters

Ola Electric has taken a significant step into the Indian market with the launch of its latest product, the S1 Air electric scooter. It is the most affordable option in Ola’s scooter range, with a starting price of Rs 110 lakh (ex-showroom) making it the most affordable option in the company’s scooter line-up. However, the latest news suggests that Ola’s affordability quest doesn’t stop there. The company is diligently working on another electric scooter, the S1X, which is expected to be a low-end variant. The curtains are set to be raised on this exciting Independence Day addition. This reaffirms Ola Electric’s unwavering commitment to pioneering and accessible mobility solutions.

The Ola S1X will launch soon

Given its launch price, the Ola S1 Air is positioned as a more cost-effective option than its direct competitors. However, the upcoming S1X is expected to increase its appeal even further, attracting a wider customer base. The S1X will be available at a surprisingly affordable starting price, under Rs 1 lakh, and Ola has officially announced that this will be one of the cheapest scooters on the market. Ola Electric is the leading 2-wheel electric vehicle manufacturer in the country, achieving impressive sales with 17,579 units sold in June 2023.

While specific product details were not revealed by the company, the presentation strangely positioned the upcoming S1X as an “ice killer”. Notably, 125cc petrol motorcycles in India usually cost Rs 1 lakh. This is interestingly in line with the Ola S1X’s expected stance.

The real test is whether the S1X can back up these claims with its actual performance. A preview of the presentation shows that the S1X has a seemingly more minimalist design than its counterparts, suggesting potential cost-cutting measures. It remains to be seen how well the S1X meets these expectations.

The Ola S1X’s range will matter considerably, with expectations hovering around the 100 km mark, with the S1 Air’s certified range being 125 km. In contrast, the S1 Pro boasts an impressive certified range of 181 km per full charge, with a starting price of Rs 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom).
