KSEB provides free EV charging facility for 3 months

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to install free charging stations for electric vehicles. These charging stations will provide a free charging facility for 3 months to charge electric vehicles.

It will be installed in Corporation limits and will commence its operations from November 1. After 3 months the electric vehicles users must pay for charging their vehicles. They can pay their bills at the charging stations using a mobile application.

This mobile application will be helpful for the users to locate the nearby charging stations available and availability of the slot. This charging stations chargers 3 vehicles at the same time. You can pay your bill in advance to get the slot and can directly go and charge vehicles at a given time. The bill can be paid later also after reaching the charging station.

The KSEB will construct more 56 charging stations across the state. The project’s initial phase includes 6 charging stations installation at Thiruvanthapuram (Nemam), Kollam (Olayil), Palarivattom (Ernakulam), Thrissur (Viyyur), Kozhikode (Nallalam) and Kannur (Chovva).

KSEB earlier this year in July had announced the list of empanelled bidders who wants to set up electric vehicle charging stations for commercial operations at specific locations in the state. It had last year invited bids from interested parties to set up electric vehicles charging stations across the state.

The KSEB head of the renewable energy department of KSEB said that “The price bids from these empanelled bidders have been called for 56 electric vehicles charging stations under the second phase.” He said that the government has laid out three phases for the installation of electric vehicles charging stations across the state. Under phase I, six electric vehicles charging stations are being deployed.” He added that under Phase III more than 300 electric vehicles charging stations are in the pipeline. The government secretariat in the state’s capital Thiruvananthapuram pilot project is already in operation.
