Komaki launches new lithium-ion battery pack with 220km of range
Komaki has made an announcement that it is launching a new lithium-ion battery pack with the capacity of giving 220km of range on a single charge. The newly developed battery pack is built in-house and can be equipped in the company’s all-electric vehicles such as XGT-KM, the X-One and the XGT-X4.
These battery-equipped electric scooters will be costing ₹85,000 (ex-showroom) and will be available with authorised company dealerships from the first week of June 2021.
The battery pack needs to be patented and the company is waiting for its approval. The new battery will be able to charge in just 4-5 hours and will deliver a range of 170-200 km depending on the riding modes.
The Komaki scooters are also having a regenerative braking system that will add an extra point to the range. The battery pack will come with a three-year warranty that includes 2 years free and a 1-year service warranty.
The company’s recent electric scooter Komaki MX-3 provides an ultra-smooth and comfortable ride. It gives a range of 90 km and consumes only 1.5 units per charge. The new battery development system is in process for its Komaki X4 smart scooter. It will provide a range of 350-400 km on a single charge.
Lithium-ion
Lithium-ion is something that is in high demand all over the world today, as it is mostly used in electric vehicles. In India, the lithium-ion batteries market is expected to grow significantly in the next five years. The annual lithium-ion battery market in India to increase from 2.9 GWh in 2018 to reach 132 GWh in 2030 at a CAGR of 37.5%.
The growth of this market is seen by government initiatives such as the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020 to bring in 6-7 million electric vehicles on Indian roads by 2020 and by 2022 by targeting 175 GW installation of renewable energy.
