Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will become the first civic body to offer electric vehicles charging facilities in its multi-level parking lots. The project has been completed and installation of charging stations is likely to be completed soon. In the first phase, the facility will be at existing three multi-level parking plots in Navrangpura, Maninagar and on the Relief Road and will be extended to five new one under construction which includes in Prahladnag and Riverfront ( west). These parking lot will have an average capacity to charge 400 cars and 600 two-wheelers.

Every floor of the parking building will get provision for EV charging points. People can book a slot in advance through an application. Which means your vehicle will get charged at the AMC lot by the time you finish your shopping or any other work.

Talking about the project, Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner Vijay Nehra said that “We have awarded work order for all the multi-level car parking lots proposed in the city. Every one of them will have provision for EV charging on each floor and as per the demand we will keep adding charging points.”

Gujarat’s draft EV policy is expected to be finalised soon, Nehra says we hope that the state government will offer perks in the final policy announcement.

For the promoting and encouraging the use of electric vehicles in the state, the exemptions from AMC vehicle tax to EV owners for the past one year.
