Hyderabad is gearing up for the launch of the highly anticipated eco-friendly electric Air-Conditioned (AC) buses, known as ‘E-Garuda’.
The inauguration ceremony for these new electric AC buses will take place on Tuesday at Miyapur crossroads. Puvvada Ajay Kumar, the Transport Minister, will preside over the event.
The TS Roads Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has made the decision to operate 50 electric AC buses on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route. Initially, 10 electric buses will be launched on Tuesday, while the remaining 40 buses will be introduced gradually by the end of this year. The introduction of these electric buses is expected to provide a more comfortable and enjoyable travel experience for passengers on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad route, in addition to their environmental benefits.
According to TSRTC officials, the electric AC buses will be scheduled to run every 20 minutes on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route, ensuring frequent availability for commuters.
The TSRTC has ambitious plans for electric buses in the coming years. They have announced that a total of 1,860 new electric buses will be introduced over the next two years. Out of these, 1,300 buses will serve Hyderabad city, while 550 buses will be deployed in distant areas. Additionally, Hyderabad will see the introduction of 10 double-decker buses in the upcoming months.
The inauguration ceremony for the new electric AC buses will take place on Tuesday at Miyapur crossroads, with the presence of Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
