Greaves Electric Mobility opens EV production facility in Tamil Nadu
Greaves Electric Mobility Pvt Ltd one of the leading companies in the electric vehicles segment has announced the opening of its largest electric vehicles production facility at Ranipet in Tamil Nadu.
The company inaugurated its largest EV production facility in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu. The facility holds 35-acre which is located in the Industrial Centre of Tamil Nadu. This facility will serve as the electric mobility hub for both domestic and exports markets. It is part of the 700 rupees crore investment by the company to increase the market share.
The Ranipet plant will have the capacity to produce 120,000 units by end of this fiscal year and will grow up to 1 million units in near future. The facility will be operational with 70% women in the workforce.
Ampere Electric, the e-mobility business of Greaves Cotton Limited had set a sales benchmark in the month of August with close to 5000 units and a remarkable increase in channel leads. Considering the overwhelming demand as a result of the India electrified initiative, the company is planning to bring in various initiatives to enhance the customer experience and to establish touchpoints enabling accessibility. Greaves expanded its comprehensive ecosystem with e2w from Ampere, e-rickshaws from Ele and E-Auto from MLR.
It had achieved a new milestone of a 1,00,000 EV customer base in over 400 towns across the country. The company has witnessed a new sales milestone of one lakh electric vehicles in India from both brand Ampere and ELE, the electric three-wheeler brand of Greaves Cotton.
It had also partnered with India’s first start-up OTO Capital to offer vehicles on leasing plans to the customers. The customers can take the benefits of the leasing option exclusively in Bangalore. By the end of this year, the company is also planning to extend the lease services to Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai and Cochin.
The Ampere had also partnered with Autovert Technologies, a Fintech company to launch a battery subscription plan through an IoT-backed platform. With this partnership subscription plan, the customers can buy a high-speed e-scooter Magnus Pro by paying as little as Rs. 49,990 (ex-showroom price Rs 73,990), whilst opting for a monthly battery subscription of Rs 1,990.
