MG Comet EV

MG Motor recently launched the new Comete EV in India. Its boxy yet unique design sets it apart from the rest. The car is currently available at an introductory price of Rs 7.98 at launch. The second electric car is provided by MG Motor India, so you can find the cheapest electric car on the Indian market here.

With a starting price of Rs 7.98 crore, the MG Comet EV will be India’s most affordable and cost-effective electric vehicle on the market.
The newly announced MG Comet EV is available in two versions. However, MG Motor India has yet to reveal full vehicle pricing. The entry-level model has a starting price of Rs 7.98 lakhs. It was announced that pre-orders would be available from May 15, 2023 as promised.

As a result of its striking, quirky design, the MG Comet EV distinguishes itself from other electric vehicles on the market. It features a four-wheeler-inspired body design and includes premium features such as split headlights, full-width LED elements, sleek alloy wheels, tall C-pillars and a two-tone paint job. The electric car is a two-door car that seats four. MG Comet possesses a length of 2,974mm, a width of 1,505mm, a height of 1,631mm, and a wheelbase of 2,010mm, which makes it a very large car.

Upon entering the Comet, its relatively spacious cabin with two 10.25-inch screens greets you upstairs. There are two spokes on the steering wheel that are tactile, and the controls are similar to those on an Apple iPod, which makes driving more enjoyable. Enjoy Bluetooth connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, push button start and digital key. Power windows, a gray interior design and a genuine leather steering wheel are some of the features available.

With the Comet, you don’t have to compromise on space efficiency. Based on the architecture of an electric skateboard, it has a long 2,010mm wheelbase and a box shape. There are two-tone finishes on the front fascia, a high-blunt nose, wraparound stripes under the windshield, and LED lighting elements inside the door mirrors.

The MG Comet EV includes a 17.3 kWh battery pack. It takes about 7 hours to charge from 0% to 100% from a normal household outlet. There is a 3.3kW charger provided by MG for this vehicle. The MG Comet EV does not have a quick charge function. Official figures indicate a range of 230km. The electric motor produces 42 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque.

A number of connectivity features are available with the newly launched MG Comet EV, including live support and voice recognition. MG Motors offers customers a variety of customization options to choose from at the dealer. You can find a variety of aftermarket car accessories and decals for the Comet EV on the aftermarket accessory market. According to MG, the car is only intended for customers who drive less than 100km per day and are not on long trips.

Currently, Comet EV has no direct competitors in the Indian market, but Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 are close competitors in the Indian market.

It is your choice which one to choose according to an affordable and perfect comfortable travel experience. As a standalone product, the MG Comet EV offers good value for money with a decent range and a well-stocked feature list. A slightly better specification Tiago Standard range is available. Note, however, that the standard-range Tiago EV is based on a lower variant, so comfort is sacrificed.
