EVs From April Must Provide Public Transport Permit

EVs, Electric three and four-wheelers must provide a valid permit from the government agency to confirm that the vehicle is used only for the public transport purposes to avail the incentives provided under FAME scheme.




EVs Must Public Transport Permit From April

The FAME I completed on March 31, 2019. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved a Rs 10,000 crore package for the second phase of Faster Adoption & Manufacturing of Electric (and hybrid) vehicles (FAME) scheme. It will start on the 1st of April 2019 and will continue for 3 years.

The FAME scheme is supporting 5 lakh e-rickshaws having ex-factory price of Rs 5 lakh will get an incentive of Rs 50,000. Electric four-wheeler with the ex-factory price of up to Rs 15 lakhs 1.5 to get sop of Rs 1.5 lakh each to 35,000.




Demand Incentives-Notification By The Heavy Industry Ministry

According to the guidelines given in the notification by the Heavy Industry Ministry regarding the demand incentive under the FAME scheme, the dealer must make sure that the demand incentive is not for the private use of three wheelers and four wheelers.

But there is a benefit for two-wheelers, the dealers can demand incentives for the sale of electric two-wheelers for private individuals.

Heavy Industry Ministry said, “In the e-3W, e-4W and e-Bus segments, incentives will be applicable mainly to vehicles used for public transport or those registered for commercial purposes. However, for an e-2W segment, incentives are also applicable for privately owned vehicles in addition to those used for public transport or for commercial purposes.”




According To The Norms 

According to the norms, “a dealer should ensure that only one vehicle per category per person is allowed to claim demand incentives. No individual person can purchase more than one vehicle of the same category and claim incentives under the scheme. However, there will be no restrictions for the number of vehicles to be purchased by other than individual categories of buyers”.
