EV charging stations sanctioned & established under FAME India

FAME India Scheme Phase-II, Department of Heavy Industry had launched the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) to promote and encourage the electric vehicles and Hybrid vehicles in India. This scheme has adoption and creation of a market for both hybrids and EVs. The FAME program includes all the vehicles including electric and hybrid two-wheeler, three-wheeler, four-wheeler, and buses.

EV charging stations revised guidelines

The Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises has declared that about 285,000 buyers of electric and hybrid vehicles have benefited from the subsidies provided under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME-India) program. A substantial amount of ₹3.6 billion has been spent under this program last year.

According to FAME India

According to FAME India website, under the FAME II scheme, the total number of electric vehicles sold in India is 280141. 49393157 litres fuel saved and 52787 fuel is saving per day in litres. The CO2 levels reduce per day in kilograms is 130819 and in total 123139222 in kg.

As we all know that FAME India operations are carried out in the phased manner. It has completed its phase I and at current it is in its Phase II. First, we will see the EV charging stations sanctioned under the FAME India scheme I.

In other greener efforts, the government of India has spent Rs 175 Crore to buy heavy electric vehicles under its FAME II (Faster Adoption and manufacturing of hybrid & EVs in India) Scheme. Under FAME II govt spent Rs 175 Crore to purchase heavy EVs.

It has sanctioned 5,095 e-buses for intra-city operations in 64 cities/State Transport Corporations (STCs). Four hundred e-buses sanctioned for inter-city operations and hundred e-buses for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for last-mile connectivity.

Recently, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has announced the list of empanelled bidders who wants to set up electric vehicle charging stations for commercial operations at specific locations in the state. It had last year invited bids from interested parties to set up electric vehicles charging stations across the state.

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has planned to install 2,000 electric vehicle charging stations in India in FY2020-21. This project will be carried out under the joint venture with the Ministry of Power. At current the EESL installed 300 plus charging stations across India.
