The Discoms eyes on a network of more than 280 charging stations for electric vehicles by the end of this year.

The Tata Power is planning to install 50 new charging stations and at current it has 12 charging stations. The two BSES Discoms are trying to add 179 to their existing infrastructure. It has 45 charging stations now and expects to add nine more by March 31.
BSES has partnered with several organisations for installing smart EV charging stations all around its licensed areas said an official.

Tata Power official said that as Delhi’s government is focusing on scaling up the use of electric vehicles in the next five years. For the operation of zero-emission vehicles, the charging stations are very much required to boost the EV industry.




The electric vehicle policy is focused to reduce the vehicular pollution by adding 5 lakh EVs in the next five years. To improve Delhi’s air quality the policy aims to adopt 25% battery electric vehicles of the new vehicle registration by 2024.

The BSES official said the company had signed an MoU with Ola Electric for setting up battery-swapping and charging stations at mutually identified stops. “While BSES Rajdhani Power Limited will set up the stations in the south and west Delhi, BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) will do so in the east and central Delhi to hasten the adoption of EVs in the city. Two-wheelers and three-wheelers will be able to avail both services at these stations. Electric cars can also be charged at some of these stations.
