Delhi Engineering Students Made A Low-Carbon Electric Car
With the goal of being a part of transforming India as an eco-friendly country, a team of engineering students from Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women has designed and manufactured an energy-efficient, low-carbon electric car that will run on a lithium-ion battery. The car comes with detachable steering and designed with the best aerodynamic shape to reduce air resistance, which results in delivering better mileage.

The all-women student team will be presenting the car in the Shell Eco-marathon part of the Make the Future Live India 2019 which is going to be held at the Shell Technology Centre Bangalore (STCB) between November 19 to 22, 2019. They will be participating in the category of Electric-battery. They named their team “Aethon”. The team will be going to compete with other students from different colleges and universities to design, build, test and drive the world’s most energy-efficient vehicles.
The model of the car has been inspired by the present common aim of every Indian to address the increasing global warming and the enormous depletion of natural resources. The team aims to achieve a mileage of 250 km. They designed the shell of the car in the shape of a teardrop, in order to minimize the air-drag force and hence increasing the mileage.
