CG India enters into EV bus Segment
Troubled power equipment maker CG Power has entered into the Electric Vehicle segment. CG India has designed and developed an EV motor which is dedicated for 12-meter passenger buses that are developed in-house with its own design and technology.

Currently, as the two and three-wheeler market is mostly occupied and dominated by Chinese EV motors, CG has taken the initiative and fixed the car and bus segments as its main target. CG developed an EV motor with capacities ranging from 160 KW to 240 KW for the 40-seater 12m bus.
Besides this, CG is also working in parallel with firms to develop EV motors for three wheeler and cars. Currently, these IE2 energy efficient motors are being tested with a battery range of 200 km.
With 5000 EV buses set to hit the roads in the next 2-3 years, the Government is planning to promote EVs across the automobile industry.
Recently, the Maharashtra state government also signed an MoU with the workers union, ‘BEST’ undertaking which completed the two orders to obtain 450 AC and non-AC mini and midi buses by the year-end.
To provide Eco-friendly mobility in the country, the BEST aims to manufacture 100 e-buses in the fleet by next year. The BEST aim is to bring in as much as buses on road to divert people to use public transportation instead of using private cars for their everyday commutes.
