BSES partners Kazam to set up EV charging station network in Delhi
BSES has announced that it has partnered with an Indian charging station startup Kazam to set up an EV charging station network in Delhi. BSES which supplies electricity across Delhi will provide around 30,000 EV charging stations in the region in the next three years. BSES includes Delhi’s Discoms like BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna, and Tata Power DDL has got into a deal with EV charging station startup Kazam. They will provide subsidies for electric vehicle charging stations in the national capital for the installation of subsidised electric vehicle charging stations will be for three years through a tender that was released in July 2021.
As per the partnership, both companies aims to have smart and affordable charging solutions for EV owners in the Delhi NCR region. The Delhi government will provide a subsidy of up to 100 per cent of the cost of the slow chargers and up to ₹6,000 per charging point for the first 30,000 charging stations.
The charging stations installed in semi-public locations like shopping malls, office complexes and hospitals will get the subsidies. The private properties which include bungalows and apartments are also included in the list.
The government recently had launched its Red Light On, Gaadi Off’ initiative across 100 intersections in the city in order to reduce vehicular emissions. Which ends on November 18 and is aims to raise awareness about pollution in the city and urge motorists to turn off engines voluntarily when the traffic light turns red.
In another initiative of the government, the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had launched a ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign to promote the adoption of electric vehicles. He appeals to the youngsters to ‘buy an EV as your first vehicle.’He targets 25% of vehicles purchased in Delhi to be electrified by 2024.
The Delhi government had also announced its EV policy in the month of August to boost electric vehicles in the national capital. The CM says that this policy is counted as one of the best policies in the world. He further says with regard to that policy we have aimed for an ambitious vision to reduce the pollution levels from the vehicles in Delhi.
