BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke AG) a German multinational corporate manufacturer of luxury vehicles and motorcycles has recently unveiled an electric bicycle and a concept electric car, BMW i Vision Amby and BMW i Vision Circular concept respectively. BMW i vision Amby electric bicycle
The BMW i vision Amby is the first high-speed pedelec electric bicycle from the company that is designed especially for urbanists. If we talk about the appearance of this e-bike, it does look like both a racing and sporty e-bike with a large frame structure. The BMW’s i Vision Circular concept represents the company’s most sustainable project of becoming a sustainable manufacturer for individual premium mobility. As the i Vision Circular concept is made from nearly 100% recycled materials and is itself is 100% recyclable.
Let us now look into the technical specifications of these BMW’s electric vehicles, one by one. Let us first look at its high-speed electric bicycle which uses a 2,000 Wh battery which provides a range of up to 300 km (186 miles) in its lowest power mode. It has 3 top speed ratings-, 25km/h on cycle tracks, up to 45km/h on city centre roads, and up to 60km/h on multi-lane roads.
Its key features include a slim LED light strip in the handlebars, LED rear light and space between the frames that offer a stowage ideal for urban life and a securing backpack or laptop bag. It can be charged in only 3 hours which is said to be fast.
BMW i Vision Circular concept
The BMW’s i Vision Circular concept electric car is for 2040 to create vehicles that are made of 100% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable itself. It is a four-seater electrically powered and offers a generous amount of interior space within its four-meter long footprint.
According to the company’s press release “The BMW i Vision Circular illustrates our all-encompassing, meticulous way of thinking when it comes to sustainable mobility. It symbolises our ambition to be a pioneering force in the development of a circular economy,” explains Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.
“We lead the way for resource efficiency in production and we are seeking to extend this status to all stages of the vehicle life cycle. This is a question of economic sustainability too, as the current trend in commodity prices clearly shows the financial consequences in store for any industry that is reliant on finite resources.”
“We will take the next big step towards achieving this with the ‘Neue Klasse’ models. We appreciate there are many BMW fans longing for a first foretaste of the ‘Neue Klasse’, but the BMW i Vision Circular isn’t it. I can promise, however, that, on a sustainability level, the ‘Neue Klasse’ is being developed with the same mindset applied for the BMW i Vision Circular.”
