Bajaj Freedom: The World’s First CNG Motorcycle Launches in India


Bajaj Auto unveiled the world’s first CNG-powered motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom 125, on July 5, 2024. This marks a significant development in the two-wheeler industry, offering a potentially more economical and eco-friendly commuting option.

Freedom on Two Wheels:

The Bajaj Freedom 125 is a 125cc commuter motorcycle designed for everyday use. It boasts a dual-fuel system, allowing riders to switch between CNG and petrol at the flick of a switch. This provides flexibility depending on fuel availability and price.


  • Engine: 125cc (exact specifications not yet revealed)
  • Fuel System: Dual-fuel (CNG and Petrol)
  • Variants: Drum (base variant), Drum LED, Disc (top variant)
  • Price (ex-showroom India): Starting from ₹95,000  for the Drum variant, going up to ₹1.10 lakh  for the Disc variant.
  • Range: 33o KM Combining both CNG & Petrol

Range and Other Details:

While official range figures haven’t been disclosed yet, CNG is expected to offer greater fuel efficiency compared to petrol. Further details regarding mileage, performance figures, and boot space (to accommodate the CNG tank) are awaited.
