The world’s top ten most polluted cities are all in India. Promising to the most polluted air made it to manifestos of most of the political parties for the first time in Indian Elections.




Major Political Parties pledged To Fight Against Vehicular Pollution

As the country is struggling to fight against pollution by adopting Electric Vehicles as the most pollution is created by the vehicular.

No doubt almost half of the population in the country uses their private vehicles for their everyday commutes and some of the population can be listed as the public transportation users.

Major political parties such as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the opposition Indian National Congress, and the Aam Aadmi Party have guaranteed to take care of the increasing pollution in the country by introducing new emission standards for the development and promotion of the EVs in a bid to fight toxic air.




Toxic Air Killed 1.24 Million Citizens In 2017

This is the first time ever that the political parties taking an initiative for EVs adoption. As we all know that the world’s top ten cities with the worst air quality are from North India alone. The toxicity air killed approx 1.24 million citizens in 2017.

Ruling BJP’s Election Manifesto

The ruling BJP’s election manifesto promised to focus on 102 most polluted cities in India.

“We will reduce the level of pollution in each of the mission cities by at least 35 percent over the next five years,” necessary steps will be taken to kick the pollution levels. 

Congress Party Manifesto

The Congress party manifesto, air pollution a national public health emergency. It promises to strengthen the National Clean Air Program to solve the pollution issue. 

“All major sources of emission will be targeted, mitigated and reduced to acceptable levels,” it says.




Manifesto Of Aam Aadmi Party

The manifesto of the Aam Aadmi Party runs the government of New Delhi promised induction of electric buses and vacuum cleaning of roads with some other issues to be addressed related to the pollution.

In 2015, AAP implemented a program to tackle with the vehicular pollution emission through traffic controls.

Anumita Roy Chowdhury Says, 

The executive director of research at advocacy group Centre for Science and Environment, Anumita Roy Chowdhury says, its a “good sign” that political parties have not ignored the pollution issues in the country.

“The intent and the purpose have to get much clearer and sharper through strong political mandate for real action afterward,” she adds.




77% Of India’s 1.4 billion People Exposed To Toxicated Air Than The Limits 

About 77% of India’s 1.4 billion people exposed to most toxicated air than the recommended limits according to a study by The Lancet.
