Zeno Emara: India’s First Sport Utility Electric Motorcycle Hits the Road

Bengaluru, May 2025 – Bengaluru-based electric mobility and energy startup Zeno has entered the electric two-wheeler segment with the launch of its debut product — the Emara, India’s first Sport Utility Electric Motorcycle (SUEM). Designed to cater to the robust needs of Indian commuters, the Emara is built to combine rugged performance with the environmental and economic advantages of electric mobility.

Targeting the highly competitive 100cc–150cc motorcycle segment, Zeno’s Emara is not just another electric bike; it is positioned as a true alternative to traditional petrol-powered commuter motorcycles, while offering a fresh take on performance, utility, and ownership flexibility.

A New Breed of Electric Commuter

Zeno calls Emara a “Sport Utility Electric Motorcycle” for a reason. It brings together the practicality of a commuter bike and the durability of an off-road vehicle. With a 150cc-equivalent performance, Emara is purpose-built to tackle Indian road conditions while keeping costs low and efficiency high.

Performance Highlights:

  • Top Speed: 90 km/h

  • Acceleration: 0–60 km/h in just 7.8 seconds

  • Motor Power: Tuned for both urban commuting and rugged terrain

  • Gradeability: Climbs inclines up to 30 degrees, ideal for hilly or uneven areas

  • Payload Capacity: Carries up to 250 kg, making it suitable not just for riders but also for cargo and delivery purposes

  • Suspension & Ground Clearance: With 17-inch wheels and an industry-leading 190mm ground clearance, Emara is designed to perform across potholes, speed breakers, and off-road stretches

Power and Range That Matters

At the heart of Emara lies a 4 kWh lithium-ion battery system, offering a real-world range of 100 kilometers on a single charge. This makes it suitable for daily commutes, short logistics routes, and inter-city travel in many parts of the country. The bike also supports home charging and is future-ready for battery-swapping ecosystems.

Flexible Ownership Models

Zeno understands that cost is a significant barrier to electric vehicle adoption. That’s why the Emara is being offered in two ownership models:

1. Fully Owned

  • Includes: Bike, 2 batteries, home charger

  • Launch Price: ₹1,00,000 (ex-showroom) for the first 5,000 pre-orders

  • Regular Price: ₹1,19,000

  • Ideal for customers seeking long-term savings with no recurring battery rental charges

2. Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)

  • Includes: Bike, home charger (battery rented separately)

  • Launch Price: ₹64,000 (discounted from ₹79,000)

  • Monthly Subscription: Starts at ₹1,500/month for battery access

  • Perfect for budget-conscious riders and fleet operators who want to reduce the upfront investment and replace batteries easily when needed

Pre-order Offer

To make Emara even more accessible, Zeno has announced that customers can pre-order the bike with just ₹999, reflecting the brand’s intent to drive early adoption at scale.

Built for the Indian Rider

From farmers and delivery agents to college students and city commuters, Emara is designed with the Indian consumer in mind. Zeno’s design philosophy ensures the bike is not only robust and capable but also comfortable and practical for long-term usage.

Design and Comfort Features:

  • Longest bench seat in the industry for added comfort

  • Bold, angular body styling that blends utility with urban appeal

  • Durable chassis and rugged design, suited for mixed-use environments

Delivery Timeline and Roadmap

Zeno has announced that Indian deliveries for the Emara will begin in late 2025. The company is also investing in expanding its dealership network and service infrastructure to support its growing customer base across urban and semi-urban centers.

Zeno plans to roll out battery-swapping stations in select cities, further strengthening its BaaS model and removing range anxiety for daily riders.

The Bigger Picture: Zeno’s Mission

Zeno’s entry into the electric mobility space with Emara is just the beginning. The start-up aims to revolutionize the Indian two-wheeler segment by offering high-performance electric vehicles that are as reliable and cost-effective as their petrol counterparts. Their broader mission includes developing sustainable energy systems, building a robust EV ecosystem, and reducing India’s dependence on fossil fuels.

“With Emara, we’ve built a motorcycle that’s strong, stylish, and suitable for India’s unique conditions — while also being green and affordable,” said a spokesperson from Zeno. “This is more than a bike launch; it’s a movement toward a cleaner, smarter future.”

Conclusion

The Zeno Emara is a significant step forward in India’s transition to electric mobility. It’s not just an electric vehicle—it’s a powerful message that utility, affordability, and performance can go hand-in-hand in the EV space. With its versatile capabilities, flexible pricing, and future-ready features, the Emara is poised to make waves in the market and win the hearts of Indian riders looking for a dependable and eco-friendly commute.
