By partnering with Bajaj Auto, Recyclekaro will recycle Bajaj auto batteries using hydrometallurgy technology
RecycleKaro, a company that specializes in the recycling of lithium-ion batteries, has announced a strategic partnership with Bajaj Auto.
The partnership will allow Recyclekaro to recycle end-of-life batteries from Bajaj Auto vehicles using its cutting-edge hydrometallurgy technology. As a result of the hydrometallurgy technology, 95% of high-purity battery raw materials such as cobalt, lithium, nickel, and manganese can be recovered, which can then be repurposed to produce new batteries.
The partnership is expected to result in the recycling of approximately 500 metric tons of end-of-life batteries as a result of the partnership, according to a press release issued by the company.
Based on the remarks of Rajesh Gupta, the Founder and Director of RecycleKaro, the company is experiencing a significant increase in battery waste as the electric vehicle market continues to grow. Leveraging their expertise in battery recycling, their commitment is to support Bajaj Auto’s commitment to the circular economy and drive progress in the electric vehicle industry. There is no doubt that embracing the circular economy is essential; it is imperative. In addition to reducing waste, these end-of-life batteries are also helping to reshape resource utilization for sustainable development. Net-zero targets have been achieved in this way.
In Palghar, near Mumbai, RecycleKaro has established the largest zero-waste lithium-ion battery recycling facility in India. A total of 17 acres are devoted to this facility. It extracts metal from scrap batteries with a 90% efficiency level and a purity level of above 99%. Currently, the facility handles 2500 metric tonnes of lithium-ion batteries and 7500 metric tonnes of electronic waste. As stated in the press release, there are plans to expand to 50,000 metric tons by 2025.
