Introducing the new eActros 600 with a 500km range from Mercedes-Benz Trucks

Technology, sustainability, design, and profitability will define new standards for heavy-duty electric trucks

With the introduction of the eActros 600, Mercedes-Benz Trucks has taken a significant step towards eco-friendly long-haul transportation. An impressive range of 500 kilometers is provided by this electric vehicle (EV), which does not require mid-route charging.

In this article, we will examine what makes the eActros 600 a game-changer in the world of commercial electric vehicles.

Specifications of eActros 600

The eActros 600 has a massive battery capacity in excess of 600-kilowatt hours, providing trucks with significant power to travel long distances efficiently. Mercedes-Benz has developed its own advanced electric drive axle, improving the overall performance and reliability of the eActros 600. Thanks to the high-capacity battery and advanced electric drive technology, this electric truck can move travels ‘ up to 500 km on a single charge, eliminating the need for intermediate charging stops and facilitating long-distance operations. When equipped with a standard semi-trailer, the eActros 600 can carry a payload of about 22 tons, demonstrating its reliability when transporting large goods. The eActros 600 is technically designed to support a total vehicle weight of up to 44 tonnes, highlighting its sturdy and reliable construction.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks will produce the eActros 600 on an existing assembly line at its largest truck assembly plant in Worth am Rhein, Germany, to simplify the production process and ensure consistent quality. The electric drive components for the eActros 600 will be supplied by Mercedes-Benz plants in Mannheim, Gaggenau, and Kassel, ensuring that the truck is equipped with top-notch and reliable components. Electric trucks are expected to be available from 2023, providing an attractive option for businesses looking to transition to electric mobility. Serial production is expected to begin in late 2024, marking a major milestone in the widespread adoption of electric heavy-duty trucks. Mercedes-Benz Trucks will not only offer tractors but will also introduce rigid variants of the eActros 600 right from its market launch, thus satisfying a wide range of customer preferences. Around 50 prototype vehicles are currently being built and it is expected that some will be put through real-world testing with the first customers, thereby ensuring the reliability and performance of the trucks.

As explained by Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ CEO, Karin Radstrom, the eActros 600 is an important step towards climate-neutral road freight transport. In addition to offering fleet operators exceptional energy efficiency and enhanced profitability, its highly innovative technology makes the transition to electric mobility more appealing.

Last but not least,

With a 500-kilometer range and potentially revolutionizing long-distance transportation, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is a pioneering addition to the electric vehicle landscape. Designed to reduce carbon emissions and offer transportation managers a compelling entrance into the world of electric mobility, this truck combines eco-friendliness with high performance. Due to all these notable qualities, we eagerly look forward to seeing what the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric truck can offer as well as what its customers will say once the truck is purchased.
