The first 450S has been rolled out after 12 months of design and engineering and 6 months of trials
It was announced earlier this week from Ather that the company would soon begin rolling out its latest electric scooter, the Ather 450S, from its factory in Hosur, which is located in the state of Tamil Nadu. Tarun Mehta, the founder of the company, announced the news on his Twitter account, which was followed by many others. Currently, the Ather 450S offers two models, the Core (Rs 1.30 lakh) and the Pro (Rs 1.43 lakh), which were launched in August 2023 and are among Ather’s most affordable electric scooters. Customers can now get their hands on the Ather 450S, which is now on its way to them.
It has been reported by Tarun Mehta on his Twitter account that a father visited their delivery center in Bangalore this week to pick up one for his son. Demonstrated to them how to use the app to drop map locations on the scooter and to reverse gear based on the map location.
Unlike other scooters in the Ather series that have a touchscreen digital cluster, the 450S has a 7.0-inch “Deepview” LCD digital cluster. In the Pro variant, the 450S will have multi-point Bluetooth connectivity, auto hold feature, turn-by-turn navigation powered by MapMyIndia, and 4 driving modes (SmartEco, Eco, Ride, and Sport; no driving modes for the Core version). The joystick provides access to the functions of the 450S digital control panel. Other features include “Fall Safety” (automatically turns off the engine if the scooter falls), an emergency stop signal, regenerative stopping ability (which improves range by up to 7%), and an updated inter-province trip plan.
Powered by a 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, the 450S has a certified range of up to 115 km, while the actual range is set at 90 km (in Smart Eco mode). Equipped as standard with an included 350-watt charger, Ather claims the electric vehicle will take more than eight and a half hours to fully charge. However, buyers will be able to purchase a more powerful 750-watt charger as an additional accessory.
