ABB launches world’s fastest EV charger
ABB a Swiss engineering company has launched the world’s fastest electric car charger ABB Terra 360. As the company plans to build a business valued at around $3 billion. Read further to know more about the ABB fastest EV charger.
The company has a new Terra 360 is a modular charger, capable of providing a charging outlet for up to four vehicles at a time with dynamic power distribution. ABB provides electric vehicle infrastructure, charging and electrification solutions for EVs besides commercial vehicles like trucks, ships and railways.
According to the company’s statement, a new charger has a maximum output of 360 kW and can deliver 100km of range in less than 3 minutes. It will be available in Europe and United States by the end of the year. The Latin America and the Asia Pacific regions are due to follow in 2022.
The ABB said that its new Terra 360 charger’s unique lighting system guides through which the charging process and shows the State of Charge (SoC) of the EV battery and the time left to get the EV fully charged. It also has wheelchair accessibility for people in need.
The ABB’s world’s fastest EV charger can be installed at almost any commercial place such as office complexes or malls. Terra 360 chargers take very little space and can be installed in small depots or parking lots too.
Frank Muehlon, President of ABB’s E-mobility Division, said, “With governments around the world writing public policy that favours electric vehicles and charging networks to combat climate change, the demand for EV charging infrastructure, especially charging stations that are fast, convenient and easy to operate is higher than ever. The Terra 360, with charging options that fit a variety of needs, is the key to fulfilling that demand and accelerating e-mobility adoption globally.”
“It’s an exciting day for ABB, who as the global leader in electric vehicle fast charging, is playing a key role in enabling a low carbon society,” said Theodor Swedjemark, Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer at ABB.
“With road transport accounting for nearly a fifth of global CO2 emissions, e-mobility is critical to achieving the Paris climate goal. We will also lead by example by switching our entire fleet of more than 10,000 vehicles to non-emitting vehicles,” he added.
ABB high-power chargers are already being deployed around the world through the company’s partnerships with international charging operators such as IONITY and Electrify America.
It has sold more than 460,000 electric vehicle chargers across more than 88 markets; over 21,000 DC fast chargers and 440,000 AC chargers, including those sold through Chargedot.
ABB Power & Ashok Leyland signed MoU to develop e-buses for India
Last year Ashok Leyland had made an announcement that it has signed an MoU with ABB Power to develop e-buses for India. This MoU will develop a pilot electric bus based on the flash-charge technology which allows charging of the battery within seconds.
The buses with ABB’s TOSA technology will be charged at selected bus stops with charging infrastructure and the batteries are charged within 15 seconds with a 600-kilowatt power boost. Apart from this, an additional few minutes charge at the final terminal enables a full recharge without disturbing the bus’s schedule.
