Bike rental VOGO to add electric vehicles to its Hyderabad fleet

A Bengaluru-based bike rental startup VOGO is planning to introduce an electric vehicle fleet to provide sustainable mobility solutions to commuters in Hyderabad.

The company in a statement said that it has recovered 40 per cent of the pre-COVID revenues in Hyderabad when since the lockdown had been relaxed. It intends to get back to the growth path by the end of 2020.

It expects a 25% growth in August 2020.”With our commitment to offering EVs in the city, we want to encourage the commuters to move towards a cleaner mobility option that will help us to reinstate the cleaner environment we cherished during the lockdown,” VOGO co-founder and CEO Anand Ayyadurai said.

VOGO is a Bengaluru based bike rental company, a dockless scooter startup that allows booking scooters easily through an Android Application. It has founded in 2016 by Anand Ayyadurai, Padmanabhan Balakrishnan, and Sanchit Mittal.

VOGO has some other rivals like Zoomcar, Rapido, Bounce and Drivezy. Its services are available in Bengaluru and Hyderabad which have completed 5 million rides. Recently the company had raised $25 million in Series C funding.

eBikeGo

eBikeGo an Amritsar based electric two-wheeler rental startup is planning to expand its fleet. In that regard, it aims for pre-series fund of another $2 million or Rs 14 crore fund.

The startup aims to hold 5 per cent of the commercial two-wheeler market by 2021. It is founded by Irfan Khan and it has witnessed tremendous growth from 2017. In 2017 it had 640 users to 18,000 users it increased by 2019.

Recently it has announced a complete mobility solution for unemployment in India. It will create employment and synergy amongst the company, drivers and AI and IoT enabled e-scooters for timely and safe.

eBikeGo is currently operating in five Indian cities, Delhi, Amritsar, Jaipur, Jalandhar, and Agra. Now it is targeting Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kochi and Kolkata. Recently, eBikeGo has provided its e-bikes to Bengaluru based bike taxi startup Rapido which is looking to electrify 10% of its fleet by 2020. The startup’s e-bike offers a top speed of 55km/h and a range up to 100 km per charge.

Yulu

Yulu an EV micro-mobility service provider CEO Amit Gupta has announced that it is planning to add one lakh electric vehicles on the road by the end of 2021 and introduce its service in new cities as well. As the sales of the vehicles have gown down during this lockdown, Yulu plans to focus more on long-term rentals.

Last year the company had raised $8 million from Bajaj Auto Ltd and currently the company is planning to import components for its electric scooters before assembling them in India. It plans to build its own electric scooters in partnership with Bajaj Auto from next year.

Mahindra Alyte 

Mahindra & Mahindra plans to launch a cab aggregator for corporates called Alyte to expand its electric vehicles fleet for taxi services. The company will significantly push the cab aggregator and shared mobility services segment. The Alyte will put Mahindra into direct competition with Ola and uber which has a significant presence in the corporate segment.
