Edison Motors to invest 5k Cr for manufacturing facility in UP, 90% components localisation & 5k job opportunity 

The South Korean electric vehicle manufacturer Edison Motors has announced its plans to invest Rs 5,000 crore to set up a production facility in Uttar Pradesh. The investment will be made in the phased manner by Edison Motors, in the first phase of the plant, Rs 1,000-1,500 crore will be invested and in the second phase Rs 2,000 and 3,000 crores in the third phase.

In the third phase of its electric vehicle plant will create job opportunities for thousands of people. This development came to known when the Edison Motors’ managing director YK Lee and a delegation led by him called on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to share his desire to establish an electric vehicle manufacturing facility in the state.

Lee said that this proposal will create 5,000 job opportunities. The company will also source up to 90 per cent of the components from local vendors and manufacturers in the state for their EV manufacturing facility which will benefit the MSME sector.

According to Lee, the company is now on a hunt for identifying land near Lucknow and Yamuna Expressway for setting up the plant. Once this plant will be set up there will be 5,000 employment opportunity for the people and the 90% of localisation of electric vehicles component in the state will a great benefit to the manufacturers, MSME sector.  

102 electric buses to India from Edison Motors 

Recently, the South Korean electric bus maker Edison Motors Co signed a contract with a transportation service provider OneBus in New Delhi. As a part of this contract Edison Motors Co will supply 102 Electric Buses.

Edision Motors Electric Bus works with a maximum power of 220kW and gives 76 kms of range on a single charge. The bus is more spacious and comfortable for long-distance driving with the support of battery swapping stations.

The interiors of the bus consists of a Bus Telecommunication module, for easy operations and its seating capacity is 44 person. The batteries are mounted on the top of the bus. Edision Motors is the first Korean company to export a batch of more than 100 electric buses to India.
