Now Alexa will charge your electric vehicle too-Skoda 

The Skoda has expanded the capabilities of its vehicles and added Amazon Alexa voice assistance to help to charge an electric vehicle or provide information about the amount of energy in batteries without the need for human-machine interaction.

Alexa Skoda Connect service

If the car is connected to a charging terminal then the built-in Skoda Connect service after establishing a connection with the voice assistant will be able to start or stop charging the batteries by the command from Amazon Alexa. It also tracks the energy reserve and range with the available charge. The command can be like “Alexa, ask Skoda, I want to start charging my car” will start charging your vehicle.

The voice assistant is able to communicate in English, French, German and Italian. It provides the information on warm-up or cools down the car interior before driving, it informs the owners if doors and windows are closed and give technical condition information. All features, except battery charging, are available for the full Skoda lineup with Skoda Connect and an internet connection via a modem built into the car.

The Alexa voice control option for charging is available for only 2 models the electric CitiGo-e iV hatchback and the Superb iV hybrid liftback and station wagon, but later on, the hybrid models of the Octavia iV family, including the sports Octavia iV RS, will get same capabilities. The developers have also given a word about the integration of cars into the Google Home smart home control system.

The information can be accessed such as trip data-distance travelled, average fuel consumption, speed, mileage and parking locations. It also advises all the windows and doors closed, lights are off and the vehicle is locked.

Skoda electric hatchback CITIGoe iV

Skoda’s first electric hatchback CITIGoe iV debuted on 23rd May 2019 in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is the first electric model from the brand Czech. It gives a range of 260 km. Its production started after the parent company Volkswagen began the production of the ID.3 electric vehicle. The entry-level electric car from the company is best suited for city commutes and is a family car with super safety features. 

Coming to its technical aspects, it pleases you with its nimble dynamics and reliability. The hatchback uses a 36.8kWh lithium-ion battery-powered by a 61kW electric motor and produces a 212Nm of torque. It gives acceleration from 0 to 100kmph in 12.3 seconds and 60-100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds which gives a top speed of 130kmph. It can be charged using a 40kW DC fast charger up to 80 per cent in one hour. It can also be charged from an ordinary outlet when you are at home. It has extended range options such as ECO and ECO+.
