2,000 EV charging stations installation by EESL

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has planned to install 2,000 electric vehicle charging stations in India in FY2020-21. This project will be carried out under the joint venture with the Ministry of Power. At current the EESL installed 300 plus charging stations across India.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of these haven’t come online to supply-side, with the supply side back on track the EESL is sure to achieve the said target. The company said that it is planning to speed up the installation process for the 2,000 new EV charging stations in the current fiscal year in the Delhi-NCR region.

EESL partnered with BSNL to install 1k EV charging points in India

EESL has a target to set up 10,000 charging stations in the next two-three years all over India. The company’s Managing Director, Saurabh Kumar, said that about this plan that they have resolved the supply-side restrictions and most of the new charging stations will start operating soon. He said that they have 300 EV charging stations across the country and the installation plans for this year FY21 will not be slowed down.

The company has partnered with several public and private sectors such as Apollo Hospitals, BSNL, Maha-Metro, BHEL, HPCL and more for the setting up of public charging infrastructure.

It has also tied-up with the urban local bodies in Hyderabad, Noida, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Chennai. At present, it is in talks with others to install charging infrastructure. The most important need to install EV charging stations in the land which the municipal bodies or firms are providing at free of cost to EESL to set up the chargers.
