Piaggio to launch electric scooters in India-

World’s leading motor vehicle manufacturer and pioneer of three-wheeler goods transportation in India, Piaggio has unveiled its Vespa Elettrica electric scooter at the Auto Expo 2020.

The Vespa Elettrica has been in production in Europe for now but for India, the company is going to develop a new electric scooter which is specially made for the Indian market said the Piaggio India CEO and Managing Director Diego Graffi.

The company also wants to explore various types of electric vehicles space. “With the growing changes in the electric two-wheeler ecosystem, Piaggio India is in the process of introducing innovative electric mobility solutions in India keeping the local consumer in mind. We are exploring multiple platforms for designing electric mobility solutions for India,” said Graffi.

Vespa Elettrica electric scooter specifications

If we look at its specifications it has a brushless DC motor with a 4kW peak power and it develops 200 Nm of peak torque. It has a 4.2 kWh lithium-ion unit with a range of 100 km in Eco mode and 70 km range in power mode. It gives a maximum speed of 70 kmph in Power mode, and 45 kmph in Eco mode.

Features 

Its features include Bluetooth connectivity with Vespa connectivity app, a fully digital instrument cluster with a TFT display. The speedometer also offers a call and message display.

Piaggio has also unveiled its brand new scooter Aprilia SXR 160, at the Auto Expo 2020. It has also showcased a limited Edition Vespa Racing series, with the 020 Vespa RED, Vespa SXL and Vespa VXL models, along with the Aprilia SR 160 and Aprilia SR 125 with disc brakes.

These models are launching in India and these electric scooters in India are very popular and we can expect that Piaggio India will launch its electric scooters under the Aprilia brand.
