Today, one of the primary concerns of a customer while buying an electric vehicle is charging infrastructure and the way of charging the battery of vehicle can only add to the inconvenience. Keeping this in mind, BMW is now planning to provide wireless charging facility on the brand’s upcoming electric motorcycle. How it works:

While the side stand of the motorcycle rests on a charging pad installed on the ground; the batteries will start to charge. With this new infrastructure, the rider will no longer has to worry about the carrying charging cables along with the entire set up for charging.

Also, there is no need of taking the battery out of the vehicle to charge it and place it back in the vehicle. The latest idea by BMW is drawn from the inspiration from cars which get a wireless charging pad over which a user can charge his or her smartphone. It is to be expected that this wireless charging facility will appear on multiple BMW two-wheeled electric models in the coming years.

BMW says at the current stage the bike is having an estimated range of 110 miles (177 km) and they are working on increasing the range. The battery pack used in the BMW E-Power Roadster is taken from the BMW 2-Series plug-in hybrid. it offers an honest 1,500 NM (1,100 lb.-ft) of torque at the rear wheel when the gear reduces and the power transfers through the shaft drive. That is enough for a 0-60 mph (0-98 km/h) time of 2.9 seconds.
