India Gets 255 Electric Buses. Tata Motors to provide 255 electric buses to 6 cities across India. The company will supply its order of 255 electric buses to State Transport Undertakings (STUs) of six cities.

Government Aiming In Eco-friendly Public Transportation
With the Government aiming for eco-friendly public transportation in the country. Tata Motors has received the orders from STU’s of Kolkata, Indore, Lucknow, Jammu, Assam, and Jaipur.
The delivery of electric buses has also started to West Bengal Transport Corporation & Lucknow City Transport Services Ltd.
6 Cities Of India Gets 255 Electric Buses
The Product Line Head – Passenger Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, Rohit Srivastava said that “We strongly believe that the electrification of public transportation is the key enabler for sustainable mobility. In an effort to promote electrification of public transport by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, 10 cities had floated tenders for E-buses. We have bagged orders of 255 Electric Buses from 6 STU’s out of the total 10, namely Kolkata, Indore, Lucknow, Jammu, Assam, and Jaipur, (about 62 percent of the share of business).”
Tata Motors’s Electric Bus Tata Starbus EV Hero
The electric bus by Tata Motors is Tata Starbus EV Hero with the lithium-ion battery with the range of 150 km on a full charge. The buses will be manufactured in the company’s plant located in Dharwad, Karnataka.
Looking at the electrifying and development of the EVs Srivastava said, “The shift to EV technology is opening up a number of opportunities for the economy. In line with that, we have recently created electric mobility vertical to deliver on our aspiration of providing innovative and competitive e-mobility solutions. We are optimistic about the future of electric vehicles and aim to play a leading role in the electric mobility evolution in the country.”

The 6 cities STUs where the company will supply the e-buses includes West Bengal Transport Corporation, Lucknow City Transport Services Ltd., Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation, Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited, Assam State Transport Corporation & Jaipur City Transport Service Limited.
