Noida to get 100 electric vehicles (EV) charging stations and the authorities are planning to join hands with a government-backed agency for the installation of charging stations to have a cleaner mobility solution in the city.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed on Thursday between the Noida Authority and a joint venture of public sector undertakings under the Union Ministry of Power, EESl, a senior official said.
3 stations at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra, commercial hubs of Sector 18 & 62
The charging stations’ spots yet to be decided and the survey is going on where to set up these stations. There will be 100 stations across Noida and out of the three will be installed at the Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra and commercial hubs of Sector 18 and Sector 62 immediately in a week after signing an MOU said an authority official.

During the signing of MoU, Noida Chairperson Alok Tandon, CEO Ritu Maheshwari, and EESL Managing Director Saurabh Kumar will be present. The authority is also planning to lease 5 electric vehicles from EESL for the official use.
Work is underway at other 6 sites for charging stations. Three stations will be on-road and three off-road with the capacity of at least 11 kV.

According to the NITI Aayog reports, the vehicular growth is recorded as rapid, it increased from 53 in 2001 to 167 in 2015. The transition to cleaner technology in the automotive industry is assumed that Rs 1.2 lakh crore could be saved in imported crude oil. If the two-wheeler alone adopted as an electric model of operation from all the other categories we could save Rs 1.2 lakh crore.
Earlier government has given guidelines to install EV charging stations across the country at every 25 km.
