Voltron VM 100 electric cycle gives 100 km range & allows pillion riding

Voltron VM 100 electric cycle is from Delhi based Voltro Motors Pvt Ltd. It is India’s first electric cycle with a mid-drive motor which is providing 100 km of range on a single charge. It is a unique electric cycle that allows pillion riding, hill riding, offroad riding and city riding.

Voltron is made by self-motivated dreamers with an intention of bridging the gap which exists between the consumers need and the current technology being used to churn out electric cycles which do not cater to the needs of the consumer.

The team was actually trying to dig the reason why the electric vehicles adoption rate is the slow world wide. After conducting  the random sample survey, the team came to the conclusion that the following are the reasons:

• Limited Range of the electric cycle which varies from 25 km to 40 km
• Restricted usage, since these E cycles are designed to be used only on smooth city roads and cannot be used to ride on hills or off-road.
• These cycles are designed for use by one person and do not have the provision for the pillion rider.
• These cycles are priced exorbitantly in terms of the features they offer.

Features 

It has a lightweight iron alloy frame, fork suspension with 80mm travel, full LED display that shows battery level indicator, ergonomic cushioned wide saddle, disc brakes, rear brakes and anti-rust steel chain. The bicycle weight is 30 kgs and its loading capacity is up to 160 kg on the plain road and up to 120 kg uphill.

Technical specifications 

While looking into its technical specifications, it is equipped with a powerful 24V 250W Mid-drive motor with waterproof casing and is powered by a smart 24v 24 Ah lithium-ion battery. It can be charged with a 100-240V automatic with smart charging (Standard Indian Plug Point) in 2-5 hours. With a full charge, it provides a range of 75-100 Km and gives a top speed of 25 km/hr. So you don’t need a license or registrations to ride this e-cycle. Its running cost is also 3 paise per kilometre.

You can either order it on the company’s website or order it on Flipkart. It is coming with a price tag of ₹ 35,000. The company is providing a 1-year warranty on the bicycle frame, fork, motor, battery and controller and its maintenance is free.
