Electric motorcycle manufacturer Ultraviolette has unveiled its answer to range anxiety: the UV Supernova DC fast-charging network. This new infrastructure aims to significantly reduce charging times for the company’s flagship F77 electric motorbike.
Faster Charging for F77 Riders:
The UV Supernova network offers two charging options:
- Supernova (6 kW): This provides a more basic fast-charging solution.
- Supernova Plus (12 kW): This option delivers even faster charging speeds.
Ultraviolette claims both options can recharge the F77’s battery from 20% to 80% in under an hour. This is a substantial improvement compared to the standard charger that takes nearly 8 hours for a full charge.
Boosting Long-Distance Travel:
The quicker charging times offered by UV Supernova aim to make long-distance journeys on the F77 more feasible. Ultraviolette is currently deploying over 100 Supernova stations across India, with a focus on key highways and strategic locations like cafes. Ten stations are already operational in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
Network Compatibility and F77 Specs:
The UV Supernova stations utilize Type 6 connectors, adhering to Indian charging standards. They are specifically designed for compatibility with the F77’s advanced features. The F77 itself comes in two variants:
- Standard: Powered by a 27 kW motor and a 7.1 kWh battery, offering a claimed IDC range of 206 km.
- Recon: This premium version boasts a 29 kW motor, a larger 10.5 kWh battery, and a claimed IDC range of 307 km (real-world range may vary).
Ultraviolette’s Move Forward:
The introduction of the UV Supernova network signifies a positive step for Ultraviolette and the Indian EV market. Faster charging infrastructure can alleviate concerns about range limitations, potentially leading to wider adoption of electric motorcycles.
