Toyota looks for Localisation of Hybrid & EV Technology In India

Toyota Motor Corporation has been focusing on electrified vehicles, it also had a Suzuki and Denso in 2017 and decided to establish a battery plant in Gujarat.

The carmaker is expected to include more electrified vehicles in their range in a bid to reduce emissions and meet the upcoming CAFE (corporate average fuel efficiency) regulations which cap the overall fuel consumption of the entire product portfolio.

Electric vehicles can become more affordable if the components are manufactured locally that’s why the company is looking for an opportunity. Naveen Soni, Senior Vice President, Sales & Service- Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “There are three main things in an electrified (Hybrid) or electric vehicle- battery, electric and controller. We are also telling the government if we can localise these things then what will happen is irrespective of what you want to make out, electric, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or fuel cell vehicle, future will be of electrified vehicles.”

Earlier this year, The Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has unveiled ‘Vellfire’ a new luxurious self-charging hybrid electric vehicle in India. It delivers a powerful driving experience with lesser fuel consumption and carbon footprints. We can call it as a strong hybrid vehicle.

The company has already sold more than 6,00.000 units globally. This ultra-luxurious self-charging electric vehicles come with an introductory price of Rs 79.5 lakh, ex-showroom and will be available to the customers all across the Toyota dealerships in India. It is importing 60 units of Vellfire every month. This luxurious EV is attracting people with its lounge on wheels and the luxurious interiors and the features the company is offering area amazing.

Self-charging hybrid EV ‘Vellfire’ specifications

Now let us see Vellfire’s specifications, it is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-Cylinder Gasoline Hybrid Engine which produces 115 bhp of power and a max torque of 198 Nm @2800-4000 rpm. It is equipped with two electric motors and a hybrid battery which helps it to achieve fuel efficiency of 16.35 kmpl.

Interiors

Coming to its interiors, the Vellfire assures one of lounge class travel one wishes to go. It comprises of large executive lounge seats in the second row accompanied with individual tables, wide headrests and individual armrests too.

The seats are made with genuine leather upholstery to give you that all comfort. It comes with 3 zone air conditioning and the company has also taught about the overall ambience too. The car is loaded with 16-Color Ambient Roof Illumination. Apart from that, it offers a 17-speaker JBL premium audio,power-adjustable seats with Ottoman function, super long seat sliding function.

The infotainment screen comes with a lot of connectivity options like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and SmartDeviceLink. The rear ceiling boasts of a 13 screen power adjust HDMI port which opens, closes, tilts. It has a connecting option, wi-fi to keep the rear passengers entertained. Toyota has added everything which a luxury car demands in its interiors but it has also not neglected the exteriors.

Exteriors

If we look at its exteriors, it has LED headlamps and fog lamps, its sides are highlighted by 17” Hyper Chrome Alloys and its doors have a side slide function for more convenient. Not only this it also comes with a twin sunroof.
