The future Tata Sierra EV design is revealed in a patent image

Tata Sierra EV Concept

The Tata Sierra EV production specs seem similar to the concept shown at Auto Expo 2023

Tata confirmed its Sierra SUV’s return at the Auto Expo 2023 in January, and it appears the project has moved a few steps further, as evidenced by this patent image of the SUV as it appears in production. There will be an electric and internal combustion powertrain option available in the Sierra SUV when it makes its return in 2025.

Tata Sierra EV patent image: what do they say?

Patent images that have recently surfaced confirm that the design of the new Tata Sierra will not be significantly different from that of the concept car presented at the Auto Expo. As a result, the nose remains upright, and a distinctive line separates the front bumper, faux skid plate, and large grille. This vehicle appears to have a split headlamp setup, with the main headlamps located just above the grille. The Tata Sierra is equipped with a wide LED light bar at the top of its nose, as with almost every new Tata SUV. On each side of the flat bonnet, two vertical creases are visible between the light bar and grille and a large Tata logo rests between them.

On the sides, contrast body cladding continues to surround the rectangular wheel arches. There appears to be a greater amount of body cladding on the doors, running boards, and wheel arches of the production-spec Sierra. Each door has distinctive creases that connect the wheels, and the rear door is framed with a strong shoulder line that extends into the fender and merges with the taillights.

Although it appears that the B-pillar of the glasshouse differs from the concept, the actual design of the B-pillar does not match the concept. The new Harrier and Safari feature not only quarter glass behind the rear door but also several unique design elements. In the patent image, the new Tata Sierra’s rear styling isn’t visible, but the rear bumper, tail lamps, and other areas should look more realistic than in the concept.

More details on Tata Sierra EV

Despite the absence of any new details regarding the SUV’s powertrain options, we do know that an electric vehicle version will be available. Furthermore, the Sierra may initially be launched as an electric vehicle, followed by an ICE version shortly thereafter, similar to what Tata Motors is planning for the Curvv.

Currently, Tata Motors is focusing on launching three electric vehicles, Punch, Harrier, and Curvv, into the market. By the time the new Sierra hits the market in 2025, we’ll have more details about it.
