Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. Inaugurate India’s Largest TATA.ev MegaCharger Hub on World EV Day

Mumbai, 09 September 2025: In a landmark development for India’s electric mobility journey, Tata Power, the country’s largest integrated power company and leading EV charging solutions provider, in collaboration with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM), India’s largest four-wheeler EV manufacturer, unveiled the nation’s largest and first co-branded TATA.ev MegaCharger Hub. Strategically located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, within the premises of The Leela Mumbai Hotel, the facility marks a bold step in reshaping the EV charging infrastructure landscape.

The inauguration, coinciding with World EV Day 2025, was jointly led by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, and Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. & Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.

A State-of-the-Art EV Charging Ecosystem

The TATA.ev MegaCharger Hub has been meticulously designed to serve a wide spectrum of EV users – from private car owners to taxis, ride-hailing fleets, logistics operators, and even frequent business travelers. With its proximity to the bustling Andheri–BKC–South Mumbai corridor, it is ideally positioned to cater to both locals and visitors, including hotel guests and international flyers arriving at Terminal 2.

The facility is equipped with eight high-capacity DC fast chargers offering charging speeds of up to 120 kW. Together, these chargers power 16 bays, enabling simultaneous charging for 16 EVs – a significant advantage in reducing wait times and enhancing user convenience. Open 24×7 and powered entirely by 100% green energy, the hub represents a blend of technology, sustainability, and customer-centric design.

Leaders Speak

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, highlighted the company’s holistic approach to driving clean mobility:

“The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, reflects our integrated approach to driving India’s green mobility transition. Strategically located and powered entirely by renewable energy, it sets a benchmark for future-ready EV infrastructure. As we roll out similar hubs in major cities, Tata Power remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering clean energy solutions and accelerating large-scale EV adoption across the country.”

Adding to this, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. & Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., emphasized Tata Motors’ pioneering role in India’s EV revolution:

“Tata Motors has been at the forefront of India’s EV revolution – not only by delivering world-class electric vehicles, but also by supporting the development of a strong charging ecosystem. Our long-standing partnership with Tata Power has been instrumental in incubating and scaling India’s EV charging infrastructure. The inauguration of this TATA.ev MegaCharger – the first of many such joint installations – is a significant milestone in our mission to grow widespread, fast, and reliable charging networks across India.”

Exclusive Benefits for TATA.ev Owners

While the TATA.ev MegaCharger Hub is open to all EV users, it comes with added advantages for Tata EV customers. Exclusive benefits include:

  • Up to 25% discounts on charging tariffs.
  • Priority access to chargers, reducing wait times.
  • Seamless digital experience via the Tata Power EZ Charge App (already with 4 lakh registered users).
  • Upcoming integration with iRA.ev Connected Car App for direct access by TATA.ev owners.

These features reinforce Tata’s customer-first approach while promoting inclusivity in India’s EV ecosystem.

Scaling India’s EV Charging Network

The launch of the Mumbai MegaCharger hub adds to the 1,000+ green charging points already operational in the city and becomes a flagship addition to Tata Power’s expansive EV charging network. Nationally, Tata Power has established:

  • 5,500+ public and captive charging points
  • 1.4 lakh home chargers
  • 1,200+ bus charging stations
  • Presence across 630+ cities and towns

This infrastructure spans highways, airports, tourist destinations, malls, housing societies, and commercial zones – ensuring accessibility for every category of EV user. By 2030, Tata Power has set an ambitious target of scaling to 7.5 lakh home chargers and 10,000 public charging points, paving the way for a truly green mobility ecosystem.

Sustainability at the Core

The MegaCharger hub is fully powered by renewable energy, aligning with Tata Power’s broader vision under its “Sustainable is Attainable” movement. By embedding sustainability into daily mobility needs, the company is not only addressing India’s clean energy goals but also shaping consumer adoption of eco-friendly practices.

A Milestone for India’s EV Future

The inauguration of the TATA.ev MegaCharger Hub in Mumbai signifies far more than just the addition of a new charging station. It represents the synergy between Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., combining energy expertise with automotive innovation to create world-class infrastructure.

As India accelerates toward its electric mobility future, such initiatives underline the crucial role of integrated partnerships in building reliable, accessible, and sustainable EV ecosystems. The MegaCharger hub is a model for cities nationwide – a step closer to India’s vision of achieving large-scale EV adoption and reducing its carbon footprint.
