Tarun Mehta says Ather 450S will be unveiled on August 11

The CEO of Ather reveals that there is still much more to be unveiled

As one of the most anticipated events of the year is set to take place on August 11th, Tarun Mehta, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Ather Energy, will unveil the Ather 450S and provide other updates via a live YouTube stream. It was reported earlier that the upcoming model would be released on the 3rd of August for INR 1.3 lakhs. It is an affordable option compared to its predecessor, the 450X, which features a smaller battery unit that makes it more affordable than its predecessor.

Despite being a prominent player in the Indian market for electric two-wheelers, Ather has some significant challenges to overcome as they prepare to launch their new 450S electric two-wheeler shortly. To ensure that loyal patrons are kept up-to-date on the latest launch information and other significant details regarding the launch, the CEO has taken the necessary steps to ensure that many eager customers are eagerly anticipating its arrival.

Ather 450S: a brief overview

New updates have been released regarding Ather’s latest model. The new model’s top speed is 90km/h, which is the same as the 450X. A teaser image of the handlebars has also been shared by the company. However, it is unclear whether the 450X is faster as acceleration time details have not been disclosed. The maximum power of the engine is still unknown, but it is assumed to be the same as the previous model which produced 6.2 kW. The 450S’s IDC range is 115 kilometers, highlighting the difference in range compared to the 450X. It should be noted that the 450X has only a 146-kilometer range, which is 20% less than the 450X. The 450S battery capacity has been reduced to 3 kWh from 3.7 kWh for the X. If Ather could achieve the same efficiency, the 450S could have an 80-kilometer range.

The 450S has a smaller battery and is priced at Rs 1.3 lakh (after FAME II subsidy, excluding showrooms). The teaser images don’t reveal much, but the mirror stem appears smoother than the 450X’s premium unit. This indicates that Ether may have reduced costs in other areas besides batteries. Additionally, the design patent shows Ather working on passenger footpegs, which the 450X lacks. Instead, the 450X has an expandable platform for passengers to rest their feet on. The folding footpegs seen in the patent may be on the 450S model.
