Switch Mobility Exports First Batch of Electric Buses to Mauritius Under G2G Agreement

Switch Mobility, a leading electric bus and commercial vehicle manufacturer, has achieved a significant milestone in its global expansion by exporting the first batch of 10 electric buses to Mauritius. This delivery marks the beginning of a 100-unit order secured under a Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement between India and Mauritius, highlighting the growing collaboration between the two nations in the field of sustainable transport.

The specially delivered all-electric SWITCH EiV12 buses are part of a larger initiative to promote eco-friendly public transportation in Mauritius. Designed and manufactured in India, the EiV12 platform offers modern features, enhanced passenger comfort, and zero tailpipe emissions — making it an ideal choice for urban and intercity operations in island nations.

The SWITCH EiV12 is built to international safety and performance standards, with seating capacity for up to 45 passengers. Its advanced electric drivetrain, extended range capability, and fast-charging options make it a practical and reliable solution for daily operations. The buses were supplied through an open tender process conducted by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) in India, ensuring transparency and competitive procurement.

Once in Mauritius, the buses will be operated by the National Transport Corporation (NTC) — the state-owned public transport operator responsible for serving thousands of commuters every day. This transition to electric mobility aligns with NTC’s vision of reducing its carbon footprint, lowering operational costs, and offering cleaner, quieter, and more efficient services to the public.

Speaking on the delivery, Switch Mobility executives highlighted that the EiV12 buses represent not just a technological leap, but also a diplomatic bridge between the two nations. “Mauritius is an important partner for us in promoting sustainable mobility. This delivery is a proud moment as it demonstrates how clean energy solutions from India can serve global markets,” a company spokesperson said.

The Government of Mauritius has been actively implementing policies to reduce dependency on fossil fuels, improve air quality, and promote renewable energy adoption. The introduction of these electric buses will significantly contribute to these objectives, while also setting an example for other African and Indian Ocean nations to adopt similar green mobility initiatives.

For India, this export underscores the country’s growing capability as an EV manufacturing hub and its commitment to supporting global partners in their clean energy transitions. For Switch Mobility, it strengthens its position as a trusted supplier in the international electric bus market.

With 90 more buses scheduled for delivery in the coming months, this collaboration between Switch Mobility, CESL, and the NTC is expected to transform public transport in Mauritius, making it cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable for years to come.
