Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has launched ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign yesterday to promote the adoption of electric vehicles. He appeals the youngsters to ‘buy an EV as your first vehicle.’He targets 25% of vehicles purchased in Delhi to be electrified by 2024.
The Delhi government has announced its EV policy in the month of August to boost electric vehicles in the national capital. He further says with regard to that policy we have aimed for an ambitious vision to reduce the pollution levels from the vehicles in Delhi.
Switch Delhi Campaign
The government targets a vision of at least 25% of vehicles that are purchased in Delhi should be electric vehicles by 2024. The tenders have been issued for the charging infrastructure and 100 charging stations will be installed all over Delhi.
Around 6,000 electric vehicles have been purchased by the people since the new EV policy was announced last year in Delhi. But he says it is not sufficient we need to take this numbers to next level.
He says we are starting a movement a campaign to bring awareness among the people of Delhi. The ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign means switching from your polluting vehicles to electric vehicles. He encouraged and appealed everyone to take part in this campaign.
