Olectra to set up India’s biggest electric bus factory in Hyderabad
Olectra Greentech India’s leading and largest electric bus manufacturer is going to set up India’s biggest electric bus factory with a capacity of 10,000 units on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The company plans to set up with an investment of more than Rs 600 crore and the new facility will spread across over 150 acres. Olectra is also planning to manufacture electric three-wheelers and trucks apart from electric buses. It is also eligible for incentives under the central government’s production linked incentive scheme.
Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd a part of Olectra has developed its buses with technical support from China’s BYD the largest electric vehicle maker. The company at current is working on 2,000 electric buses orders worth Rs 3,000-3,500 crore which is to deliver incoming 12-18 months.
Recently, the Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has also discussed the modalities for introducing electric buses for cleaner transport facilities. The Olectra had given a presentation about the company and said that it had deployed 600 electric buses all over India till now and has the order of 2,500 buses.
The J&K government partners to deploy electric buses and have asked the company to send two electric buses for trials. Depending on the trial results it will decide the further actions for inter-city and Intra-city buses.
Olectra is an electric bus manufacturer which is a division of the MEIL group. They have a partnership with the Chinese group BYD in which BYD supports olectra in terms of technology. Olectra manufactures different versions and categories of Electric buses.
