Okinawa launched exchange offer for petrol two-wheelers
Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Okinawa Scooter partnered with an online platform for used bikes CredR to launch the exchange offer on any petrol-based two-wheeler for an electric scooter.
This scheme will be initially launched in Ahmedabad, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bangalore and Pune and later on it will expand to other cities across the country. The CredR will offer instant quotes for old petrol scooters so that the cost of the Okinawa scooters get reduces.

“India”s e-mobility landscape is going to change dramatically post COVID-19 pandemic and the sales are expected to rise. As the sales of overall two-wheelers will see a boom, there will also be a rise in sales of second-hand e-two wheelers,” CredR Chief Strategic Officer Sasidhar Nandigam said.
To get the benefit of the scheme customers to need to bring their old petrol two-wheelers for a physical inspection and valuation at any Okinawa showroom. The CredR will immediately show the estimated price quote. The CredR will verify the documents and health status of the petrol vehicle and completes the transaction.
“As one of the leading EV brands in India, we are looking to enhance the accessibility and affordability for e2W buyers. Post unlock, we have seen good demand for Okinawa e-scooters. We believe increased consciousness towards safer and affordable means for transportation will make more petrol buyers consider EV,” Okinawa MD and Co-founder Jeetender Sharma said.
Ampere, Okinawa plans to invest in TN
Recently, the electric two-wheelers manufacturers looking to make fresh investments in Tamil Nadu. Ampere vehicles are planning to invest around 400 cr to expand its existing capacity to 2.50 lakh units per annum at current ampere’s annual production capacity is 50,000.
Okinawa is also planning to invest in Tamil Nadu as 60 per cent of its sales comes from southern states and out of it, 20% sales is from Tamil Nadu alone.
This initiative comes after TN govt decided to offer 100% tax exemption to all EVs which attracted many other EV & charing companies to establish their business in TN.
