LFP cells to be produced in India by NSure Reliable Power Solutions
NSure Reliable Energy Solutions (NSure) will soon join the alliance of lithium-ion battery manufacturers in India and trial production will begin at their 1.0 GWh plant in Malur, near Bangalore. NSure Founder and CEO Chandrakanth Ramalingam invested Rs 1,050 crore and purchased 80 acres of land to establish a formal manufacturing unit strategically located in Malur, a future electric vehicle hub in India, on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Let’s shed some light on what Chandrakanth Ramalingam, Founder, and CEO of NSure Reliable Power Solutions has to say about this next step.
The plant considered the 1.0 GWh capacity of the LFP cell with the provision to expand the Gigafactory up to 5 GWh or more in the next phase. NSure was at the forefront of getting approval from the state High Commission. Following Chandrakanth Ramalingam’s remarks, NSure’s Li-ion cell production pilot unit will be ready soon and they plan to begin operations by the end of October.
NSure has agreed with the Indian government to continue localization efforts. As part of the vision of the Prime Minister, Atma Nirbhar Bharat, NSure, and the Center for Advanced Research in Powder Metallurgy and International New Materials (ARCI) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) are working together. India accepts the transfer of technical know-how and training to support localization efforts.
Interestingly, NSure has adopted LFP chemistry, preferring NMC and other chemistries, as this technology offers greater thermal stability, which makes the battery pack safer, and longer lasting with less energy, as well as being more affordable and best suited to the tropical climate of India.
Since our batteries do not contain rare earth metals such as nickel or cobalt, this greatly reduces the risk of fire and explosion and reduces the environmental impact of batteries at their end of life, stated Chandrakanth Ramalingam. It was also stated by Chandrakanth Ramalingam that the approach they are taking is to fabricate Li-ion batteries that can be used for a variety of different applications, thereby reducing the overall cost per cycle while enhancing energy density.
A Brief Review on NSure
NSure inherits the firm vision of Mr. Chandrakanth Ramalingam towards the adoption of Technological Advancement in business, catering to the energy requirements of India’s renewable space and e-mobility by providing next-generation storage solutions. NSure echoes his values, driven by innovation, reliability, and high-quality assurance. NSure Aims to establish giga-scale domestic capability for manufacturing Advance Cell Chemistry (ACC) batteries with the adoption of world-class technology aptly designed for the Indian environment and needs.
