Toyota Motor has commenced its sale in Japan. Mirai is priced starting from 7.1 million yen ($68,188), or 300,000 yen lower than the earlier version. After the government’s subsidies, Japanese consumers can expect to pay about 5.7 million yen.
The new Mirai launch came after the Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced a goal in October to cut Japan’s carbon emissions to zero by 2050, in line with a European Union target and ahead of a pledge by Chinese President Xi Jinping to make his country “carbon neutral” by 2060.
“Since its hydrogen fuel can be created from renewable resources like solar, wind and biowaste, Mirai is helping to usher in a new era powered by clean energy,” claimed Toyota. It has a fuel cell system that gives a 153 hp and it claims to refuel in just 5 minutes at any hydrogen fuelling station.
It comes with an aerodynamic shape with multi-LED lighting in the front and rears further accent its shape. It has colour-keyed bumpers which feature black inserts for a touch of sportiness. It has fuel cell baking and has standard 17-in engraved alloy wheels.
The carbon-fibre-style interior accents perfectly complement the futuristic interior design. A premium JBL audio system, multiple charging points and intelligent touch controls. It has 12.3-inch touch control and an air purification system too.
Apart from that, it has some other features too which includes vehicle stability control, traction control, 4-wheel anti-lock brake system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist and smart stop technology. It has 8 airbags, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert features. The integrated backup camera includes a projected path feature, making it easier to back into those tight spots.
