Bus travel between Nellore and Tirupati goes electric
By introducing AC electric buses through its routes between Nellore and Tirupati, APSRTC promotes the use of sustainable forms of transportation. As a result of the launch of this service by the company’s chairman Malikarjuna Reddy, residents of Tirupati and Nellore districts in the state will now have an opportunity to commute using greener practices.
The route will be serviced by about 12 electric buses, and six of them will depart from each city at scheduled times on a daily basis. As a result of the introduction of these electric vehicles, they will join the 50 Olectra Greentech buses that are already running between Tirupati and Tirumala on a daily basis.
The APSRTC launched a service of AC electric buses between Tirupati and Kadapa a few days ago. The Nellore-Tirupati route is operated by electric buses, which are capable of carrying 35 passengers, including the driver, on board. A single charge of these buses will allow them to travel for up to 200 km.
Mallikarjuna Reddy, who attended the inauguration, said the government will deploy electric buses in more cities so that carbon emissions can be reduced. Currently, the RTC e-bus between Tirupati Tirumala and Tirupati Kadapa is being operated by the Department of Transport of Tirupati.
